Boldino. Rebranding

The Pushkin Museum-Reserve “Boldino” is a literary museum located in the complex of buildings of Pushkin’s ancestral estate in the village of Bolshoe Boldino, Nizhny Novgorod region, associated with it is one of the most crucial periods of the poet’s work.

Our task was to rebrand the recognizable and well-known “Boldino” museum. It was necessary not only to develop a new and modern look for the product, but also to do it in such a way as to increase public interest both in the place itself and in the image of the biggest Russian poet. Through the rebranding, the idea of continuity and common heritage should have been through: in Boldino, everyone can find what they need, retire, relax or work productively, as Alexander Sergeevich once did here.

The idea of graphics

The find that we noticed is the golden light that penetrates into every corner of Boldino. At this moment, the manor and the surrounding area are filled with magic, an aura that gives inspiration for creative discoveries.

Light is the inspiration

The inspiration that visited Pushkin in Boldino, and which continues to visit the guests of this place, can be conveyed through the image of light, flash, ray.

The shadow is the mystery

In turn, where there is light, there is a shadow. If light is a metaphor for inspiration, then shadow is a metaphor for mystery.

Our inspiration

We were so excited about the idea that we saw it everywhere. The native landscapes of the Moscow region inspired us to work, throwing up random plots that we had not noticed before in the ordinary. Silhouettes of leaves dancing in the wind, organic shapes, the play of light and shadow, the lines of tree branches and even the horizon — all this surrounds us almost every day and therefore becomes an ordinary landscape, from which it often becomes difficult to isolate individual elements.

Brand platform

To create a brand platform, historical and cultural analysis, interviews with experts, definition of goals and language of communication were conducted.

Colors

The color palette is based on the variety of shades of Boldino nature. In combination with shadow graphics, colors can acquire different depths and textures.

Logo

The idea of the logo is inspired by the outlines of the imprint of Pushkin’s corporate seal.
